| Their biggest profit margins come from parts and service. As big as Courtesy is, I'm sure they are trying to make every penny possible because it's getting harder and harder to keep the profit margins up. Now, toss in a glut of parts for a car that went out of production 11 years ago, with a very limited customer base. You said these were special order items which makes it typically all that much more harder on the dealer to move. Yes, you were kind to offer the parts to him at cost or less, but that's still money out of his pocket for parts he didn't order nor parts he can move quickly. Yes, the manager could have been nicer to you. But keep in mind that he's mostly dealing with people who are buying things from him, not people selling him things. He doesn't know you - as far as he can tell, you might be trying to scam him. It may have been different if you had an on-going business relationship with him where you buy almost all of your parts from him exclusively, but I don't think that's the case. I'm not stepping up to defend the parts manager nor the dealership in general. But keep in mind that these managers have to account for every dollar they spend. And if they're spending money that doesn't bring in more business to the dealership, it's considered a waste and this stuff gets taken out on the manager. Dave
